What is the schedule of events on race day?
6:30 a.m. – Packet Pick-Up/Registration Opens
7:30 a.m. – Packet Pick-Up/ Registration Closes
8:00 a.m. – Sprint Individual Duathlon – Men’s Start
8:03 a.m. – Sprint Individual Duathlon – Women’s Start
8:06 a.m. – Sprint Relay Duathlon – All Teams Start
8:30 a.m. – Super-Sprint Individual Duathlon – Men’s Start
8:33 a.m. – Super-Sprint Individual Duathlon – Women’s Start
9:15 a.m. – Post-Race Party Begins
10:15 a.m. – Awards Ceremony

Can I sign up for the race on race day?
Yes, race day sign up will be from 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.

What time will the race start?
The race will start in waves depending on event and gender. Start waves are:
8:00 a.m. – Sprint Individual Duathlon – Men’s Start
8:03 a.m. – Sprint Individual Duathlon – Women’s Start
8:06 a.m. – Sprint Relay Duathlon – All Teams Start
8:30 a.m. – Super-Sprint Individual Duathlon – Men’s Start
8:33 a.m. – Super-Sprint Individual Duathlon – Women’s Start

What is the deadline for online registration?
Online registration will close at 11:59 p.m. on Monday April 24, 2017. No paper registrations will be accepted.

May I get a refund for my entry?
No, all entries are non-refundable.

May I transfer my registration to another person?
No, you may not transfer your registration to another person.

Do I need to have a USA Triathlon License to participate in the duathlon?
Yes, all athletes must have a USA Triathlon License to participate in DU the Lakes Duathlon (either the annual license, or a one-day license). This means that each athlete on a two-person relay team must have a USA Triathlon License. The fee for the annual license is $50 per person and the one-day license is $15 per person. Is DU the Lakes Duathlon a sanctioned event?
Yes, DU the Lakes Duathlon is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. Athletes participating in DU the Lakes Duathlon will have the opportunity to qualify for the National Duathlon Championships in Bend, Oregon.

Can someone else pick up my packet?
No, all athletes participating in the race must be present to pick up their race packets and must show valid, state-issued photo ID to do so. This means that both athletes on two-person relay teams must be present in order for the team to receive their packet. This is in compliance with USA Triathlon rules.

Can I pick up my bib before race day?
Yes. Early packet pickup will be held on Friday April 28, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the DeWitt location of Fleet Feet Sports Syracuse, the official running store of the DU the Lakes Duathlon. (5800 Bridge Street, East Syracuse, NY 13057)

Will there be water stops?
Yes, there will be two aid stations on the run course. There will not be any aid stations on the bike course, so athletes are encouraged to bring their own hydration on the bike course.

Can I wear headphones during my run?
No, USA Triathlon prohibits the use of any audio device during a multisport event.

Can I run with my dog or stroller?
Please, no dogs, skates, baby strollers or jog strollers. None of these are allowed on the course.

Is there a minimum age requirement for the duathlon?
You must be at least 16 years old by December 31, 2017 to participate in the race.

What other rules should I be aware of?
Athletes are responsible for knowing the rules that apply to participating in a duathlon. All athletes are encouraged to familiarize themselves with all of the USA Triathlon Competitive Rules.

What are the Age Group awards?
There will be awards for the top 3 males and females overall and in the following age groups for males and females: 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+

Do finishers receive a medal?
Yes, all finishers will receive a commemorative medal.

When is the awards ceremony?
Awards will start approximately at 10:15 a.m. at the Beachhouse at Green Lakes State Park. If you place in your age group, please make sure that you pick up your award on race day. AWARDS WILL NOT BE MAILED.

Is medical support available?
An ambulance will be present in the finish area.
